Re: EPA MPG estimates for 2011 and 2012 vehicles have been addedWith gas teetering around $4 a gallon, if you expect 35 mpg out of your new car, but actual clock only 20 mpg, you could lose about $1,300 for every 15,000 miles you drive that is according to the Chicago Tribune. However, just such discrepancies occur. In fact, the type of fuel that is used also affects fuel efficiency. The EPA uses gasoline without additives in its testing, whereas most commercial fuel sold in the U.S. contains 8 to 10 percent ethanol. Many new car buyers probably leave the seller's lot expecting their brand new automobile to get the miles per gallon listed on the Environmental Protection Agency sticker. But often those numbers do not match. But is that really an issue, and should some action be taken?
