Hi, as the title says, I just got this 1990 Geo Metro with 156,000 miles. I'll enter the exact mileage when I start tracking. For starters, I put $5 to top it off last Thursday, went out of town twice and around here as I please and it's still above the half mark. Those out of town trips were a 51 mile round trip and a 23 mile round trip. I've been driving it quite a bit around town mainly because I just got it and want to get out in it.
I've made a little progress trying to make it look a little more presentable. I'd say the dash board is the ugliest spot on it. There's a substantial tear on the right front fender, probably a front end accident I'm guessing.
The little 3 cylinder motor and it's little buddy radiator just made me grin ear to ear. It purrs like a kitten and shifts so smoothly.
About the gas gauge, I suspect it is off. When I topped it off the gauge didn't touch the full mark, so maybe the tank is below half and I'm going to have to watch it. My prior vehicle's gas gauge was also off, but leaned to the right, so when the needle say 1/8, it was really empty. With this Geo, if the needle is leaning to the left, then it'll say empty for another 1/8 tank.
My thoughts are, since typically a full tank tends to give you better mileage, and the old tank I have on this 90 probably has gunk at the bottom of it, I will fill it up before it gets to the E mark. Maybe I'll get better mileage and prevent my gas lines from getting stopped up. |
