Chevy AVEO

With gas prices breaking peoples budgets, folks are looking for any means possible to save on fuel; me included.

The hybrids seem to be getting all the attention in the media these days, but if you don't do the majority of your driving in the city, they may not be worth the cost. On top of that hybrids are not cheap.

I bought my 2008 Chevy Aveo for $8500 after rebates and discounts. I couldn't pass up the deal. The hatchback model normally lists for about $10,400; the sedan a bit more. Even at sticker cost, it's still a lot cheaper than a $25,000 hybrid.

The Aveo is a no frills car that gets 36 to 37 MPG with most of my driving on the highway, and driving between 55 - 60 MPH. So few people realize they can save gas just by slowing down. Or maybe they do realize it, and don't care about saving gas.

You're probably thinking I work for GM; nope I don't.

I would be interested in what other people are doing to save gas. Looking foward to your feedback.
